Hannover 96 have completed the signing of midfielder Marvin Bakalorz, who was on the radar of English Championship side Leeds United.

Bakalorz has completed a free transfer switch to Hannover from SC Paderborn, where he served as the side's skipper.

Hannover had been claimed to be concerned about Leeds' interest in the 26-year-old as financially the Whites could have won the race, but head coach uncertainty at Elland Road, with no boss confirmed for next season, may have played a part in the English side not competing for his signature.

Bakalorz is delighted with the move and commended the professionally run club he has encountered, telling his new club's official site: "I had talks with the leaders and even today [looking] around the stadium I have an excellent impression of Hannover 96.

"On the sporting front I have clear ideas, as do the club", he continued.

"I am looking forward to this exciting challenge at this very professionally run club", Bakalorz added.

The midfielder has been handed the number 6 shirt at Hannover and will look to help the club make an instant return to the Bundesliga next season.

This term Hannover finished rock bottom of the German top flight, picking up just 25 points from their 34 league games.

Bakalorz's former side Paderborn finished bottom of the 2.Bundesliga, just a year after finishing bottom of the Bundesliga.
