Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has expressed his satisfaction with the team's progress over the course of the last season, pointing to strong team chemistry as the key to success.

The Lilywhites had an impressive 2015/16 domestic season where they finished third with 70 points, losing only six of their 38 matches.

For Mason, it was an achievement as it shows remarkable progress from where they finished the previous season, when they only managed to secure a Europa League spot.

Credit goes to the great team chemistry and the tight unit they possess, according to the midfielder, along with all the support staff and everyone else associated with the club.

“The team did very well throughout the year – we progressed from the previous season”, Mason told his club's official website.

“We showed that we’re a tight team with great chemistry but that’s not just the players, it’s the staff and everyone at the football club.

"The gaffer and the players put in hours of work on tactics and how we play out from the back and this last season you saw that we did it on more of a consistent basis."

Reflecting on their opening match of the 2015/16 season against Manchester United which they lost 1-0, Mason said that they showed very clearly that they were the better team and should have seen the result go in their favour.

And the trend continued in many more matches where they were the dominant unit.

“Everyone understands each other in the team and some of the performances were fantastic.

"Even in the first game of the season against Manchester United away I thought we were the better team, we outplayed them and we should have got a result there.

"I think over the season there weren’t many games where we underperformed – it felt like we were the dominant team in the majority of matches."
