New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is set to sit down with Ryan Giggs for talks over the Welshman’s future once the former winger returns from holiday tomorrow, according to the BBC.

The Red Devils appointed the Portuguese as their new manager on Friday morning and Mourinho visited the club’s training base at Carrington for the first time yesterday with his assistant Rui Faria.

The former Chelsea boss is expected to appoint Faria as his deputy at Old Trafford, but Manchester United remain keen to hold on to Giggs’ services too in a prominent role.

Giggs served as Louis van Gaal’s number two during the Dutchman’s two-year reign and was also caretaker manager when David Moyes was sacked with only a few games left in the 2013/14 season.

And while Mourinho is ready to incorporate Giggs into his backroom staff, Faria is expected to remain his assistant manager at Old Trafford.

The Welshman is currently holidaying in Dubai and is expected to return to Manchester tomorrow, after which Mourinho is expected to hold talks with Giggs over his role at the club going forward.

There have been calls for Giggs to finally cut his more than three-decade long ties with Manchester United and look to prove his managerial credentials outside Old Trafford.

Other Manchester United legends such as Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand have also been mentioned as figures Mourinho might look to incorporate in his backroom staff if Giggs decides to pack his bags.
