Liverpool are interested in bringing Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina back to Anfield, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport.

Reina, who was snapped up by Liverpool from Villarreal in 2005, joined Napoli on a season-long loan deal in the 2013/14 campaign after losing his spot in the first team to Simon Mignolet.

The Spaniard then decided to ply his trade in Germany with Bayern Munich the following season, but a lack of playing time prompted him to rejoin Napoli permanently last summer.

And now it seems Liverpool want to sign their former star to further bolster their goalkeeping department over the summer; the Merseyside giants signed Loris Karius from Mainz earlier in the month.

However, it is highly unlikely that Liverpool will be successful in their attempt to woo Reina back as he wants to end his playing career at Napoli.

And the Serie A side have no desire to lose the custodian.

The 33-year-old, whose present contract with Napoli runs until 2018, kept 18 clean sheets in 44 appearances in all competitions last season.

Reina also has 33 caps for Spain to his name.
