Celtic winger Patrick Roberts believes that the global reach of the Premier League puts additional pressure on the shoulders of the England national team, but he is confident in the quality of Roy Hodgson's men.

Roberts, who is on loan from Manchester City, will see his country's senior players go head-to-head against some of the top team's in Europe when they kick off their Euro 2016 campaign.

As is the case in any other tournament, the Three Lions will go into the tournament looking to win it though it is yet to be seen whether the expectations are realistic or not.

England's recent form will create new hope among the supporters, with the team having won all their ten group stage matches in the qualifying stage.

According to Roberts, the global reach of the Premier League carries over to all the tournaments England take part in. As a result the country get a lot of stick for not producing enough quality players.

“The Premier League is the biggest league in the world so millions of people watch it all over the globe so that maybe carries over, because there’s such attention on it”, Roberts told his club's official website.

“Other countries will also have their own pressure but England as a whole always gets a lot of stick for not producing enough good English players."

With the current crop of players though the youngster is confident about a better showing from his country this time around.

“At the moment, though, we’ve seen Jamie Vardy do very well alongside Harry Kane, Dele Alli has done very well and others have too so there are a lot of expectations, but that’s because of how big the league is and how many people watch it from all over the world.

"Expectations are always high but I’m sure they will do well.”
