Former Everton manager Roberto Martinez is on the radar of Lazio, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia.

The Serie A outfit are in search of a new coach after they decided against extending the contract of Simone Inzaghi, who took charge of the club in April, succeeding Stefano Pioli.

It has been claimed that ex-Italy boss Cesare Prandelli is close to taking the managerial reins at Lazio.

But Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito is keeping his options open and Martinez's name has been put forward as a potential option.

He is well regarded at Lazio and could be a potential contender to take over.

Martinez was sacked by Everton towards the end of last season as the Toffees endured a difficult 2015/16 campaign which saw them finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Southampton are also keeping tabs on Martinez, with Ronald Koeman edging closer towards securing a move to Merseyside.

Martinez, who also managed Swansea City and Wigan Athletic, was appointed as Everton’s manager in 2013.
