Rangers winger Barrie McKay is keen to return to the Scotland team soon after having a taste of international football last weekend.

The young winger had a terrific season at Rangers and his performances were crucial to the Gers winning the Scottish Championship and earning promotion to the Premiership.

McKay also grabbed headlines when he scored a screamer against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final and was rewarded for a fine 2015/16 season with a call-up to the Scotland squad.

The 21-year-old made his debut for Scotland on Saturday when he came on as a late substitute in their 3-0 loss to France, and McKay admits that he cannot wait to return to the national squad as soon as possible.

The winger told the club’s official website: “The manager said to go and enjoy it and try to get involved as much as you can.

“That was it really. He just said to go on and enjoy the occasion.

“I would love to play for my country again.

"I have always said that, even if it is at under-21 level or first-team level. I would just love to play.”

McKay is expected to return to pre-season training with Rangers next month and the club are hoping that he will be able to take his form to the top tier of Scottish football next season.
