Rangers will be forced to wait to discover whether they can sign Dominic Ball from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The Gers enjoyed Ball's services last season during a year-long loan spell from Spurs. Rangers boss Mark Warburton handed Ball regular game time, in both defence and midfield, as the Spurs starlet played a key role in the Gers winning the Scottish Championship title.

Warburton, a boyhood Spurs fan, is keen to keep Ball at Ibrox into next season, but the decision is out of his hands.

Indeed, according to the Press Association, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to assess Ball in pre-season before taking a call over his future.

Ball only has one year remaining on his contract at White Hart Lane and if Pochettino does not feel the defender is ready to make an impact at first team level he may look to sell him to Rangers.

But Rangers will have to wait until Pochettino has run the rule over Ball and the improvements made to his game at Ibrox before finding out whether they have a chance of taking him back north of the border.

Warburton is keen to get his permanent signings done and dusted quickly and it remains to be seen if he will wait for Ball or turn to other options if there is no speedy decision from Spurs.
