Premier League champions Leicester City are considering other options to strengthen their attack after Sporting Lisbon made clear they must pay €30m if they want to sign Islam Slimani.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is a firm fan of the striker and has been keen to take him to the King Power Stadium to increase his attacking options ahead of next season.

But Leicester's desire to sign Slimani has run into a big obstacle, Sporting Lisbon's president.

Indeed, according to Portuguese daily O Jogo, president Bruno de Carvalho has made it clear that if the English champions want to sign Slimani then they will need to meet his release clause, which is set at €30m.

Sporting Lisbon insist that the striker, who was prolific last term and hit the back of the net 27 times in 33 league games, will not leave for less than his release clause figure.

As a result, Leicester are now assessing alternative options and it remains less than certain they will continue their pursuit of the Algeria international.

Slimani scored a total of 31 goals in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon last season.
