Fiorentina are keen to land Sunderland winger Emanuele Giaccherini this summer, but know they face considerable opposition for his signature, according to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia.

Giaccherini spent last season on loan at Bologna in his homeland and impressed with his performances back in the familiar surroundings of Serie A.

As a result he earned a spot in the Italy squad for Euro 2016 and has already been on target in the tournament, scoring against Belgium in a 2-0 win for Italy on Monday night.

A former Juventus winger, Giaccherini has just a year remaining on his contract with Sunderland and has been tipped to leave the Stadium of Light.

Fiorentina are hoping to hoover him up, but Bologna are keen to keep Giaccherini on a permanent basis following his loan.

There is also interest in the Italian from Torino and AC Milan, meaning La Viola will have a battle on their hands to win the race for the wide-man.

Giaccherini's agent weighed into the debate over his client's future on Tuesday, when he claimed Sunderland will not be able to command a fee of more than €2m for the winger.
