Lars Veldwijk's agent thinks it is highly likely his client will start the new season at Championship side Nottingham Forest due to the fee which the English club want for the striker, along with his wages at the City Ground.

The tall striker was snapped up by Forest from Dutch outfit Excelsior in 2014 for an initial fee of £500,000. However, he struggled to make his mark at the City Ground in the 2014/15 campaign.

Veldwijk was sent out on loan to PEC Zwolle last summer and clocked up the entire 2015/16 season back in the Netherlands.

Zwolle would like to sign him on a permanent basis, but the striker's salary and Forest's demands means such a deal is impossible, something which remains the case for other interested Dutch sides, his agent says.

"The transfer fee which Nottingham want to have for Lars is a major stumbling block for Dutch clubs, just like the salary he earns in England", agent Wessel Weezenberg told Voetbal International.

As such, Weezenberg feels his client is likely to start the season at the City Ground, with a loan impossible as his contract only has a further year to run, while a new manager may choose to hand Veldwijk a chance to shine.

"He will probably start the season at Nottingham", the agent said.

"A loan is virtually impossible because his contract has only a year to run.

"Also, much has changed at Nottingham, as there is a new manager."

Veldwijk made a total of 36 appearances in all competitions for Zwolle in the recently concluded season, scoring 14 goals in the process.
