Celtic have confirmed that former West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has left the club.

The former England international was taken to Celtic Park by former Bhoys boss Ronny Deila, who snapped him up a free transfer in October last year.

However, Cole struggled to make an impact north of the border as Deila regularly preferred other options and has now left Celtic.

The Scottish champions announced via their official website: "Celtic Football Club today confirmed that Carlton Cole is leaving the club."

And the statement added: "Everyone at Celtic would sincerely like to wish Carlton the very best of success for the future."
