Wolfsburg are also involved in the chase for AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen, a Tottenham Hotspur target, the club's sporting director has admitted.

Janssen was the top goalscorer in the Eredivisie last season as he netted 27 goals in 34 games, catching the eye of a number of clubs in the process.

The 22-year-old, who is a Netherlands international, has already held talks with Tottenham ahead of a potential move to White Hart Lane.

Now it has emerged that Wolfsburg have also spoken to the prolific striker, although sporting director Klaus Allofs is at pains to point out the Wolves also have other options when it comes to strengthening their attack.

"We have indeed talked to Janssen", Allofs explained to German magazine Kicker.

"But we have more options", he added.

Wolfsburg endured a disappointing season last term as they could finish in only eighth spot in the Bundesliga.

Scoring goals proved to be an issue for the Wolves, who hit the back of the net just 47 times in 34 league games, a total well below any side that finished in the top five.
