Roma have slapped in a proposal for Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum aimed at pleasing the Magpies.

The Serie A giants are desperate to land the Netherlands international as they look to replace schemer Miralem Pjanic, who has left the Stadio Olimpico to join Juventus.

Roma have, according to Sky Italia, offered to take Wijnaldum on loan for the season, adding in a high price for the purchase clause they also want including.

The Giallorossi hope including a high purchase price may convince Newcastle to accept the loan bid and allow the Dutchman to move to Italy.

Newcastle have been looking for €30m to sell Wijnaldum and it remains to be seen how they will react to Roma's proposal.
