Leeds United look to have won the race for Kalmar striker Marcus Antonsson, with the player due to have a medical with the Elland Road outfit on Monday ahead of signing for the club.

Antonsson won the Allsvenskan's Player of the Month award for May recently and has been prolific in the current campaign, something which has seen him linked with several clubs.

English Championship trio Aston Villa, Cardiff City and Leeds are keen, while French side Toulouse hold an interest, but it appears the Whites have won the race for Antonsson.

According to Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen, Antonsson is expected to have a medical on Monday and will cost Leeds a fee of £1.2m.

His signature will be a statement of intent for the Yorkshire giants as they look to build a squad capable of winning promotion to the Premier League next season.

Antonsson joined Kalmar in December 2014 and wasted no time establishing himself at the Swedish outfit.

The club's sporting director recently revealed he had never seen such interest in a player, something which stands as evidence to the fact the striker impressed a number of clubs with his lethal touch in front of goal this year.
