Joey Barton believes that Clint Hill is in for a culture shock at Rangers due to the size of the club.

Hill, who was released by English Championship side QPR at the end of last season, has put pen to paper on a one-year contract at Ibrox.

The 37-year-old defender links up with former QPR team-mate Barton, who himself joined Rangers earlier this summer after helping Burnley win promotion to the Premier League.

Barton feels that Hill will be shocked when he realises the size of Rangers as a club, explaining that it is something players find hard to grasp until they are in the thick of life at the Gers.

"I spoke to Clint the other day and said to him ‘you won’t understand the size of the club’ and told him how big it is and that it’s probably the biggest I’ve played for so I think he’s in for a culture shock", he told Rangers' official site.

"No matter what you tell people to expect, Rangers is a huge football club and nobody can expect what it is until you walk in the door", Barton added.

Rangers boss Mark Warburton has been keen to add experience to his squad this summer as he prepares the Gers for life back in the Scottish Premiership and the renewal of their fierce rivalry with Celtic.
