Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Niko Kranjcar is close to securing a move to Rangers and will arrive in Glasgow on Wednesday for a medical.

The Gers are preparing a two-year contract for the 31-year-old, who is a free agent this summer following a short stint with New York Cosmos.

The Croatia international will be the third free transfer to sign for Mark Warburton's side this summer, with the Championship winners looking to strengthen ahead of a grueling next season in the Premiership.

Kranjcar started his career at Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb. He arrived in England in 2006, joining Portsmouth. He joined Tottenham in 2009, playing there for the next three seasons and managing an overall 72 Premier League appearances scoring eleven goals.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, Kranjcar's consultant, Emil Zgur, said that his client has been looking for a new opportunity and there can be nothing better than Rangers at this juncture of his career.
