Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signature of Roma striker Antonio Sanabria, according to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo.

The 20-year-old Paraguayan has just spent a season on loan at Sporting Gijon in Spain, where he has caught the eye of several clubs, amongst them Tottenham.

He featured on a regular basis for Sporting Gijon in La Liga and has given his career a shot in the arm after a move to Roma from Barcelona turned sour.

It is claimed that Mauricio Pochettino's Spurs are leading the race to sign Sanabria and are now closing in on his signature.

Sanabria's performances at Sporting Gijon have seen him linked with Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia in recent months, but he could well continue his career in England.
