Leeds United retain an interest in midfielder Liam Bridcutt, but Sunderland want a deal to be done quickly and are demanding a fee for his services.

The Whites loaned Bridcutt from Sunderland last season and he established himself in the heart of midfield at Elland Road.

Steve Evans, the head coach who signed Bridcutt, was keen to keep him permanently this summer, but the Scot lost his job at the end of May and has been succeeded by Garry Monk.

The trail has gone cold, but according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds are still very much interested in Bridcutt.

He has a year left on his contract at Sunderland, but despite being out of favour with boss Sam Allardyce, any thoughts the Black Cats might let him go without a fee have been dashed.
