Manchester City have activated the release clause in Nolito's contract at Celta Vigo and are closing in on the signing of the Spain international.

The forward has been linked with several clubs this summer, including Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur, with the latter having sent scouts to check on his performances, but it is Manchester City who have made a decisive move in the race to sign the 29-year-old.

According to French radio station RMC, Manchester City have met the €18m release clause in Nolito's contract, leaving Celta Vigo powerless to prevent his departure.

The Citizens have a three-year contract, with an option for a fourth year, ready for Nolito to sign.

The deal could be done quickly after Spain's campaign at Euro 2016 ends this summer.
