West Ham have made contact over Argentine forward Jonathan Calleri over a proposed summer move to the Premier League, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

The 22-year-old forward joined Uruguayan outfit Maldonado in January, but was immediately loaned out to Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo for the rest of the season.

Calleri could well be on the move this summer and he is courting interest from Europe, with West Ham reportedly keen to take him to England in the coming months.

And it seems the Hammers are moving forward with their interest in Calleri as it has been claimed that the Premier League outfit have already contacted the striker’s representatives to discuss a transfer to east London.

West Ham are in the market for a striker and have started tentative negotiations with the Argentine forward's agents over a move to the Olympic Stadium this summer, as they look to add an attacker to their ranks.

Calleri scored 21 goals in 53 appearances for Boca Juniors during his time at the club, and is expected to be named in the Argentina squad that will travel to Brazil for this summer’s Olympic Games.

He played a key role alongside Carlos Tevez in Boca Juniors winning the Argentine top tier last season.

And he also scored eight times in the recently concluded Copa Libertadores for Sao Paulo.
