Inter Milan have joined the chase for Roma and Stoke City target Axel Witsel this summer, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia.

The 27-year-old has just a year left on his contract with Zenit Saint Petersburg, and both the player and the club are said to be willing to part ways during the summer transfer window.

Premier League outfit Stoke are interested in signing the player, and reportedly tabled a bid for the midfielder a few weeks ago, but Witsel is keener to move to Italy with Roma.

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti worked with the midfielder at Zenit and the midfielder is believed to be keen to reunite with his former manager at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, another Italian club have joined the growing queue for Witsel as it has been claimed the Inter are also keeping a close watch on the midfielder’s future at Zenit.
