Manchester City midfielder Seko Fofana is on the verge of joining Serie A outfit Udinese on a permanent transfer, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

The Frenchman joined Manchester City from Lorient in January 2013 and after being a regular in their Under-21 side, he was loaned out to Fulham in 2014 for first team experience.

Upon his return to the club last summer, he was again loaned out to French outfit Bastia and it seems the midfielder is set to leave Manchester City on a permanent transfer.

A number of clubs were interested in signing up the player this summer, including Queens Park Rangers, but he is on his way to Italy and is set to join Udinese for an initial fee of €3.5m, which could rise to €5.5m based on his performances.

Fofana and his representatives arrived in Italy yesterday, and he is set to undergo a medical at Udinese soon before signing a contract with the club in the coming hours.

Bastia, where he spent the last season on loan, are entitled for a compensation package of around €700,000 as the player is still Under-23 and they played a role in his development.

Fofana is set to leave Manchester City without making a senior appearance for the club and will be hoping to get more opportunities in Italy.
