Rangers new boy Niko Kranjcar admits that it is a huge responsibility to play for a club such as the Gers as they demand a winning mentality from their players.

The 31-year-old attacking midfielder joined Rangers on a free transfer earlier today, and signed a two-year deal with the Scottish second division winners.

He became the third ex-Queens Park Rangers player to join the club this summer after Joey Barton and Clint Hill, and became Mark Warburton’s sixth signing of the transfer window.

Kranjcar admits that it is an honour and a privilege to join a club of Rangers’ size and he is looking forward to winning silverware with the club ahead of their first season back in the Premiership.

And he also believes that it is a huge responsibility to play for Rangers as the club are expected to regularly win things and compete for top honours in Scotland.

Upon joining the club, the Croat told Rangers TV: “It’s great. Obviously it’s a big honour and a privilege to sign for a club this size, but it’s also a big responsibility in my opinion because you have to be the best you can.

“You have to win trophies and it’s something I’m really looking forward to.

“You don’t need to talk about how big Rangers Football Club is and I’m really looking forward to the challenge in front of me.

“That’s why I mentioned the word ‘responsibility’, because I think everyone who signs for this club has to know what they are in for.

“You have to win everything that comes your way and I’m really looking forward to that challenge and for that responsibility.”

Kranjcar will become the third Croatian to play for Rangers after Dado Prso and Nikica Jelavic.
