England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has claimed that the Three Lions can go right to the end of Euro 2016.

Roy Hodgson’s men, who will face Iceland in the knockout stages of the ongoing competition, beat Wales, but were held by both Slovakia and Russia due to which they finished second in the group behind Chris Coleman’s Welsh side.

The skipper came on as a substitute in the second half of England’s game against Slovakia and was a standout performer for the men in white against both Russia and Wales.

The former Everton man has said that England can go to the end of Euro 2016 if they play to their best.

He was quoted as saying by the BBC: "In my eyes, the group games have been good because we could have got false hope if we'd won all of them 2-0 or 3-0", said the Manchester United star.

"We know we have to play better and take our chances.

"We're confident and we believe we can go to the end of this competition. If we play our best, we can give anyone a game and win."

Rooney scored 15 times and assisted six times for Manchester United under Louis van Gaal last season and was a key part of the side that won the FA Cup and finished fifth in the Premier League.
