Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton is eager to prove his worth to new manager Brendan Rodgers and maintain his place in the team next season.

The Israeli midfielder has grown in stature at Celtic since joining the club from FC Ashdod in 2013, and played an important part in their title winning campaign last season.




The 24-year-old has returned for pre-season training with the Bhoys in the last few days and is eager to impress new manager Rodgers in the upcoming weeks to maintain his place in the team.

And the Celtic midfielder admits that he feels proud to get the opportunity to work under the former Liverpool boss, and hopefully play Champions League football next season.
 


Bitton told Celtic TV: “It is a big honour to be trained by Brendan Rodgers.

“And I’m looking forward to the season starting to show him my quality and that I deserve to play.

“I’m looking to keep my place in the team, to win more trophies with this club, to make the supporters proud and I really want to go to the Champions League, it’s my dream.”

Bitton has clocked up 109 appearances since joining the club in 2013, and has eleven goals and ten assists to his name as a Bhoy.

He has also earned 16 international caps for Israel.
