Lyon have made an offer for Chelsea linked defender Emanuel Mammana this summer, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

A product of the River Plate academy, the 20-year-old has caught the fancy of a few European clubs with his steady performances in the Argentine outfit’s defence at the Estadio Monumental.

Serie A giants Napoli and Fiorentina have been keeping a close watch on Mammana and even his agent was reportedly in talks with Chelsea over a proposed summer move to England.

However, it seems Lyon are making a play to take the Argentine defender to France this summer and it has been claimed that they have slapped in a bid for the player.

While the figures of their offer are not clear, it has been suggested that Lyon are interested in beating off competition for Mammana’s signature in the coming months.

However, the Ligue 1 outfit are also considering other options should they fail to sign the 20-year-old defender this summer.

Mammana has just made 32 senior appearances for River Plate and made his debut for Argentina just ahead of the World Cup in 2014.
