New Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has revealed that Mauricio Pochettino’s presence at White Hart Lane made his decision to join the club easier.

Tottenham wrapped up the signature of the 24-year-old Kenyan international from Southampton last night, and he became the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

He has signed a five-year contract with the north London club, and is looking forward to working under Tottenham manager Pochettino.

The Argentine signed the midfielder from Celtic when he was Southampton manager, and Wanyama admits that Pochettino’s presence played a big part in the move.

And he feels Tottenham are only going to get better in the near future as they have kept on improving since the Argentine took charge of the club in 2014.

Wanyama told Spurs TV: “It was easier for me to choose to come here as I know how the manager is.

“The manager likes to work hard and they have always been improving since he arrived here; they can only get better.

“Hopefully there are good things ahead of me.”

The defensive midfielder clocked up 97 appearances at Southampton during his three-season stay with the south coast club.

He is also captain of the Kenyan national team and has earned 32 caps for the African nation.
