Roma have identified Bologna starlet Amadou Diawara as a potential replacement for Chelsea linked midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

Chelsea and Roma have been locked in negotiations over Nainggolan over the last few weeks, as the Blues look to snare him away from the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

The Premier League giants have tabled bids for the 28-year-old midfielder and are increasingly confident of getting their man at some point during the next few months.

Roma are keen to hold on to the midfielder, but have already identified a replacement if Nainggolan finally chooses to move out of the club in the summer transfer window.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Bologna midfielder Diawara has been chosen as Nainggolan’s replacement and Roma have already probed the possibility of signing the youngster.

Diawara has attracted the attention of a number of top clubs, and Bologna are willing to sell the player, who joined the club last summer, at the right price.

Roma are expected to make their move for the teenage midfielder if they finally reach an agreement to sell Nainggolan to Chelsea this summer.

Despite his tender years, the 18-year-old midfielder clocked up 34 Serie A appearances in his first season at Bologna.
