Championship side Leeds United have confirmed the structure of their academy in preparation for the forthcoming 2016/17 season, while head coach Garry Monk insists he will keep the focus on youth at the club.

The Whites have one of the brightest academics across England from where a number of talented players have risen through the ranks, going on to make their presence felt for the senior team.

And in accordance to the club's tradition of giving more importance to the youth system, a newly invented structure has been prepared by club officials.

The club will not look to appoint an academy director with Adam Underwood and Daral Pugh looking to continue in their roles as academy manager and head of coaching respectively.

Jason Blunt, who has been associated with the Whites' Under-18 team, will now take charge of the Under-21 side while Andy Gray and Mark Jackson will replace him at the level below.

Giving his reactions to all the changes at youth level, head coach Monk told the club's official site: “Everybody in football knows the prestige of the Leeds United Academy and the fine work that has been done in developing young players over the years.

“I'm really excited to help keep that important pathway from the Academy to the first team, as I'm a big believer developing young talent.

“As we enter the new season, and having met the staff already, it is clear the Academy is in safe hands to continue performing to such a high standard.”
