Southampton have lodged an enquiry with Lille for midfielder Sofiane Boufal, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea and Liverpool this summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder has emerged as a key player for Lille since joining the club in January last year, and has also attracted the attention of a few clubs in Europe, especially from England.

There has been speculation that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been keeping tabs on the midfielder, and even Chelsea are said to be interested in the player.

However, the English duo are set to be joined by another Premier League outfit in the Boufal admiration club, as according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Southampton have enquired about the player’s availability this summer.

The south coast club have been without a manager since Ronald Koeman left for Everton earlier this month, but it has not stopped them from moving forward with their transfer plans.

And it has been suggested that the 22-year-old Lille attacking midfielder is one of the players the club are keen to chase during the summer transfer window.

Boufal has a contract until 2019 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy and Lille are only expected to sell him if they receive a fee of around €25m to €30m for the Moroccan international.

Scoring 12 goals and providing four assists, Boufal helped Lille to a fifth place finish in Ligue 1 last season.
