Sunderland have offered a contract worth €6.5m per year to former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, according to Sky Italia.

The Black Cats are keen to sign the experienced Bosnian hitman, who left Manchester City to join Italian giants Roma last summer, and recently saw a bid rejected by the Giallorossi.

Dzeko has struggled to make an impact in Serie A and it has been claimed Roma are ready to sell for the right price.

Sunderland have now gone on the offensive to tempt Dzeko to give the green light to the move by offering a yearly salary of €6.5m to the striker, it has been claimed.

Dzeko made a total of 39 appearances across all competitions for Roma last season, hitting the back of the net on ten occasions and providing his team-mates with six assists.
