Aston Villa have pushed past Spanish side Getafe to put themselves in pole position to scoop up the services of defensive midfielder Yeltsin Tejeda.

The 24-year-old Costa Rica international currently turns out at club level with French side Evian, but is expected to be on the move this summer.




Tejeda has been attracing interest from Spanish side Getafe, who were relegated from La Liga last season after finishing second bottom.

However, according to French daily Le Dauphine, it is Aston Villa who have put themselves in the strongest position to attract the midfielder.
 


French outfit Evian snapped Tejeda up from Costa Rican side Saprissa in 2014 and he put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the club.

Despite his best efforts, Tejeda was unable to help Evian avoid relgation from France's Ligue 2 last season as they finished third bottom with 39 points from 38 games.

Tejeda was in action for Costa Rica at the Copa America in the United States, with his country exiting the competition at the group stage.
