Leeds United talent Tyler Denton is looking to push Charlie Taylor in the first team next season.

The 20-year-old left-back put pen to paper on a one-year contract at Elland Road earlier today and has already set his sights on pushing the highly rated Taylor for a spot in the side by putting him under pressure.

Denton was a regular fixture for Leeds' Under-21 side last term, often wearing the captain's armband, and did enough to cause the Whites to hand him a new deal.

The defender told his club's official site: "I played every game for the Under-21s last season, which was a bonus for me.

"I felt as though I was pushing towards the first team but obviously Charlie’s a great player in that position – I’ve learnt a lot from him over the last few years", the youngster continued.

"I work to be in the first team and putting pressure on Charlie. If that chance comes, I feel like I would be ready."

Denton faces a tough task pushing Taylor out of the team as the left-back is one of the most highly rated starlets at Elland Road and shone in the Championship next season.

He also has a new head coach to win over in the shape of former Swansea City manager Garry Monk, who has succeeded Steve Evans.
