Leeds United must convince Ashley Fletcher that they are going in the right direction if they want to tempt him to Elland Road, former Whites striker Noel Whelan believes.

Fletcher has turned down an offer of a new contract at Manchester United and now several clubs are looking to snap up the young hitman.

Leeds want to add Fletcher to the ranks at Elland Road and Whelan thinks the signing would be a "no-brainer" on the part of the Yorkshire giants.

However, he warned the the Whites must be able to show the Manchester United youngster that they are now moving in the right direction.

He wrote in his Yorkshire Evening Post column: "As for Ashley Fletcher, he has turned down the contract offer at Manchester United and coming to Leeds should be a no-brainer.
