Rangers midfielder Jason Holt believes that the hard work the squad have put in in training over the course of the last few weeks will stand them in good stead for the match against Charleston Battery.

The Gers are set to play their first pre-season friendly against the United Soccer League side next Wednesday at the 5,100 capacity MUSC Health Stadium to kick off their preparations for the new season.

There will be a ten day training camp in the South Carolina heat along with the match and the former Heart of Midlothian man believes that all the hard work they have put in onthe  training ground both in Scotland and in the US will give them the edge in that match.

“It’ll be a good trip, I’m sure it’s going to be really hard work, but it’s going to be enjoyable too. We’re away for ten days and in the same place, so I’m sure all of the boys will really enjoy it", Holt told his club's official website.

“It’ll be great to get back to playing against Charleston Battery. All of the work that we’ve done back over home in Scotland and over in America will stand us in good stead going into the first game."

The Gers return to the competitive fold as early as July with a League Cup match against Motherwell on 16th July and Holt insists that all the action they can manage prior to that will be good for them.

“We need to get a bit of action before we get back to playing competitively.”

It will be Holt's second season with the Scottish giants having played 45 times and scored 12 goals from midfield.
