Napoli are powering towards the signing of Mexico international Hector Herrera, who has also been linked with Liverpool and are claimed to have an agreement in principle with the midfielder.

Maurizio Sarri is desperate to have Herrera at his disposal for next season and Napoli are doing their best to answer their coach's demand.

Liverpool have been mooted as being keen on Herrera, but the player himself is claimed to prefer a move to Napoli as that would mean Champions League football.

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Napoli have an agreement in principle with Herrera and are putting their foot to the accelerator on the deal.

Herrera currently turns out for Portuguese giants FC Porto and Napoli still have to find an agreement over the transfer fee to be paid.
