Celtic have pulled off a big coup by snapping up striker Moussa Dembele, who will join the club on 1st July from English Championship side Fulham.

Dembele turned heads at Fulham and was on the radar of a number of the biggest clubs in the Premier League – but he has chosen to join Celtic and has signed a four-year deal which will kick in when his contract with Fulham expires on 30th June.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were just two of the sides keen on the hitman and a source close to Dembele said earlier this month: "Arsenal have been interested in him for months, they have watched him in many games during the season. They think of him because of [Danny] Welbeck's injury.

"Other big [teams] in England such as Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United are interested."

It is though Celtic who have won the race for the former Paris Saint-Germain youth product and he becomes the first signing of Brendan Rodgers' reign at Celtic Park.

Dembele is now to jet off to link up with his new team-mates in Slovenia and will look to make an instant impression on Rodgers in pre-season.

The striker boosts the Northern Irishman's attacking options following the departures of Stefan Scepovic, Carlton Cole, Anthony Stokes and Colin Kazim-Richards.

Dembele, 19, hit the back of the net on 17 occasions in all competitions for Fulham last season.
