Former Rangers forward Colin Stein believes that Celtic have missed the presence of the Gers in the Scottish top flight.

Mark Warburton led Rangers to promotion from the Scottish Championship in the recently concluded season and has booked a top flight spot and regular Old Firm games for the Gers next term.

For Stein, Celtic have missed not having Rangers around, while the former Gers hitman also insists that for his old club, battling the Bhoys for the title must be their aim right from the off as they are capable of doing it.

He told Rangers TV: "I think Celtic have missed Rangers.

"The games against them, if you play in them they are unbelievable", Stein continued.

"Certainly I think they can [compete at the top of the table with Celtic]."

Stein had two spells at Rangers as a player, turning out for the Ibrox outfit from 1968 until 1972, when he then joined Coventry City.

The forward returned to Rangers three years later.

Rangers have just jetted off for a ten-day training camp in the United States which they will use to build fitness ahead of their first game of the season on 16th July, a League Cup match against Motherwell.
