Tottenham Hotspur are facing serious competition for the signature of Roma striker Antonio Sanabria after Real Betis burst into the race.

Sanabria spent last term on loan in La Liga at Sporting Gijon and impressed in helping the side to avoid relegation from the Spanish top flight.

He has now returned to Roma, but is not expected to remain in the Italian capital as clubs chase his signature.

According to Sky Italia, matters are coming to a head for Sanabria with Real Betis having lodged a bid of €11m for the Paraguay international.

Roma are now expected to discover tomorrow whether Spurs are prepared to nudge up their offer for Sanabria.
