Manchester United are expected to complete a deal to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borussia Dortmund next week, according to German daily Bild.

The speculation surrounding the 27-year-old winger’s future at Dortmund is expected to reach a conclusion by this weekend and it seems unlikely that he will be wearing BVB's colours next season.

After initial reluctance, Dortmund indicated that Mkhitaryan might be on his way out after club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed last night that Manchester United have slapped in an improved offer.

It has been claimed that a new bid from Manchester United is around the €42.5m mark, and Dortmund are expected to ratify the deal in a board meeting this weekend.

Dortmund's players are set to return for pre-season training on Monday, and the club are keen to close the Mkhitaryan chapter before they start preparing for a new campaign.

And it has been suggested that Manchester United are now expecting to confirm the player’s signing next week, before they officially unveil Jose Mourinho as their new manager in a press conference.

Mkhitaryan is expected to travel to England as soon as Dortmund ratify the move and undergo a medical before signing a contract with Manchester United.

The Red Devils are also expected to complete their much rumoured move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic next week on a free transfer.
