Rangers are closing in on their eighth summer signing of the summer as they look to wrap up a deal to secure the signature of MK Dons full-back Lee Hodson.

Mark Warburton has talked about beefing up his squad during the transfer window, and has already secured deals for seven new faces, including big names such as Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar.

Strengthening his full-back options has been one of the priorities for the Rangers manager, and it seems the Englishman is close to completing a deal for a right-back in the next few days.

According to the Herald Scotland, the Scottish second division winners are on the verge of signing MK Dons defender Hodson.

The Northern Irishman spent the second half of last season on loan at Kilmarnock and caught the eye of Rangers boss Warburton as he looks to build a squad good enough for the Scottish Premiership.

Hodson was also part of Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland squad for the European Championship in France, and is now on his way to Rangers.

While the 24-year-old is not set to join Rangers in the United States for their pre-season preparation, he is expected to sign a deal with the Ibrox outfit in the upcoming days.

Hodson was a constant presence in the Kilmarnock team during his loan stint and made 13 Scottish Premiership appearances for the club.
