Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is determined not to pour fuel on the fire of suggestions he could be keen to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

Lacazette has regularly been linked with the Gunners, with Wenger being renowned for his eye for talent in his homeland. And the Lyon hitman has also had other suitors, with West Ham United having slapped a bid in for him earlier this summer.

It has been claimed that Arsenal could even pay €55m for Lacazette, but Wenger is not willing to be drawn on the subject as he knows that any comments will be taken as a sign he wants his countryman at the Emirates Stadium.

"I neither confirm or deny anything", he said on Canal +.

"I like the player, but if I say this, then the rumours will start", the Gunners boss continued.

"A club often have four or five players put in a priority and it is more feasible to sign at the end", Wenger added.

Wenger has already been active in the transfer market this summer, snapping up Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Gunners finished second behind Leicester City in the Premier League last season, but failed to land a genuine title challenge to push the Foxes.
