Rangers manager Mark Warburton has insisted that the outstanding support from the fans has never been taken for granted.

The Gers, who will return to the Scottish Premiership next season following their Championship success in the last campaign, have announced that the season ticket sales have soared through the 40,000 mark already and are still increasing.

The Glasgow based club will look to break the record they set in the 2006/07 season, when a total of 43,170 season tickets were sold by the club.

Warburton, who is currently preparing his side for the upcoming friendly against Charleston Battery, has said that the support of the fans last season was never taken for granted.

He told the official Rangers website: “It’s a fantastic show by the fans already.

“Last season we had outstanding support and we said time and again that home and away the level of support was never taken for granted, that’s for sure.

“To support us in that size of number this early is fantastic and I think the record was 43,000 and our aim as a club must be to get everyone behind the team and behind the squad.”

Rangers have already made their fair share of summer signings, with Joey Barton notably acquired on a free transfer.

Former Queens Park Rangers defender Clint Hill and former Tottenham star Niko Kranjcar have also been snapped up on free transfers, while young Jordan Rossiter has also been acquired from Liverpool
