Amadou Diawara's representative has blasted the midfielder's club side Bologna for slapping a €20m asking price on his client's head.

The highly rated midfielder's future has been the subject of much debate this summer, with Manchester United having scouted him, while Valencia have been pushing to take him to the Mestalla. A whole host of other clubs have also been linked with bidding for Diawara, including Sevilla and Roma.

Bologna recently rejected a bid from Valencia and believe the midfielder is worth nearer to the €20m mark. However, Diawara's representative insists that there is a disconnect between the asking price Bologna want and how much they are paying the 18-year-old, with no new salary offer having been forthcoming.

"To date, Bologna have rejected the most concrete offer, more than €10m", Daniele Piraino told Zerocinquantuno.it.

"As for the alleged gift Diawara is supposed to have received, we have not received any proposal for adjustment [of his contract] even remotely close to the salary of a player who is valued by the club at €20m", he continued.

"Bologna say Diawara is worth €20m, but they are paying him €3,000 per month as an inter-regional player."

Diawara was snapped up by Bologna last summer from San Marino Calcio.

The 18-year-old wasted no time in establishing himself in the team and made a total of 34 appearances for Bologna in Serie A last season as he protected the club's defence from his defensive midfield position.

His deal with the Rossoblu runs until the summer of 2020, placing Bologna in a strong position over his future.
