Celtic youngster Anthony Ralston is delighted to have the opportunity to work under Brendan Rodgers in the first team squad, and feels he is a brilliant appointment for the club.

Following Ronny Deila’s departure at the end of last season, Celtic appointed Rodgers as their new manager on a 12-month rolling contract, amidst palpable excitement amongst the fans.

Rodgers has taken charge of the club and in his first game as Celtic boss his side drew 2-2 in a pre-season friendly against NK Celje in Slovenia, where Ralston played 45 minutes of football.

The youngster feels given Rodgers' record in England with clubs such as Liverpool and Swansea, it is a brilliant appointment for the Bhoys and he believes a manager of his stature will elevate the club.

On Rodgers’ appointment, the full-back told Celtic TV: “I think he is brilliant.

“He has managed some top teams, especially Liverpool; nearly won the league a few seasons ago.

“It’s brilliant to have a manager of that stature coming in and taking over our team.”

Rodgers has been tasked with the job of continuing Celtic’s domination of Scottish football and taking them back to the Champions League group stage for the first time in three seasons.
