Crystal Palace are pushing hard to put in place a deal to take Christian Benteke to Selhurst Park from Liverpool.

Benteke is surplus to requirements at Anfield and following Liverpool's signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton for an initial £34m, the Reds are looking to recoup a portion of their outlay by selling the Belgian.

According to Belgian daily Het Laaste Nieuws, Palace are working hard and negotiations are due to kick off as Alan Pardew's men try their best to sign Benteke.

Liverpool paid £32.5m to sign Benteke from Aston Villa last summer, but following the arrival of Jurgen Klopp at Anfield in October, the powerful striker soon fell out of favour.

He has been linked with a number of clubs, but it is Crystal Palace putting in all the legwork to sign him this summer.
