Manchester United have made contact with Marseille midfielder Lassana Diarra, who is looking to leave the Stade Velodrome this summer.

Diarra still has a three-year contract with Marseille, but has made clear to the club that his goal is to move on to a bigger club following a campaign during which he impressed for the Ligue 1 outfit.




There was interest from Chelsea and Manchester United in May, while according to French outlet Foot Mercato, the Red Devils have now re-established contact over signing Diarra.

The midfielder is waiting to discover Manchester United's exact offer and has made a return to the Premier League his priority this summer.
 


The midfielder is also not sure of Marseille's exact stance over his availability this summer.

It is claimed that Diarra had a private agreement with Marseille that he can leave on a free transfer if he wishes, however the French giants may try to pocket up to €3m from his sale.

Diarra was present this morning at pre-season training with Marseille.

In total the 31-year-old made 33 appearances across all competitions for Marseille last season as he established himself as a fixture at the Stade Velodrome.
