Leeds United have officially confirmed the signing of centre-back Kyle Bartley from Premier League side Swansea City.

Bartley, who played under Whites head coach Garry Monk at the Liberty Stadium, links up with Leeds on a season-long loan deal.

The Yorkshire giants said in a statement: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Swansea defender Kyle Bartley on a season-long loan."

Bartley arrives at Elland Road to replace Giuseppe Bellusci, who sealed a loan return to Italy with Empoli earlier today; the deal also gives Empoli a purchase option.

Monk knows Bartley well, with the defender having joined Swansea in 2012 after failing to break into the team at Arsenal; the 25-year-old was developed in the youth ranks at the Gunners.

Bartley has Championship experience, having enjoyed a spell on loan at Birmingham City in the 2013/14 campaign.

He will now link up with the Whites for pre-season as he eyes forcing his way into the side at Elland Road and increasing Monk's defensive options.

Leeds are heading to Ireland for two friendlies in pre-season, while they also have a friendly away at Peterborough United booked in for Saturday 23rd July.
