Rangers chairman Dave King has revealed that the club won’t stand in a player’s way if he wants to join a big club in Europe, provided the Gers receive an adequate transfer fee.

Rangers have finally earned promotion to the Premiership for the first time since they were forced to start at the bottom tier of Scottish football in 2012.

Mark Warburton has signed a plethora of players ahead of their return to the top tier, with big names such as Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar joining the club during the summer transfer window.

Despite the flurry of signings and new found optimism at Ibrox, chairman King indicated that the club would not be able to match offers from bigger clubs in Europe in the future if they want one of Rangers’ top performers.

However, he insisted that they would demand an adequate transfer fee in order to replace the outgoing footballer.

But King insists that the player must also be keen to move on and communicate that to the club.

The Rangers chairman told the club’s official website: “There will also be situations where a player performs at a level that creates interest from another club from one of “Big 5” leagues and an offer is received that could never be matched by Rangers.

“Under such circumstances, if the player wanted to move, we would not stand in his way but would expect the appropriate level of transfer fee to ensure that an equivalent quality replacement could be achieved.”
